In life you can either be a success or a failure. In life you can give up, give in or give it all you’ve got. In life you will meet two kinds of people. Ones who build you up, and ones who tear you down. Sometimes you can do things right but at other times you might be wrong. Many times we wish things could have been different or that we could be different but things always have a way of working out in the end. Every story they say has an ending, but in life every ending is just a new beginning. It doesn’t matter in which street of life you are right now, you can begin again with God. Endure with hope, God is not only the God of second chances, He is the God of another chance, the God of multiple chances.
Stop clinging to your mistakes just because you spent a lot of time making them. You have dwelled for too long in that street of life. I know that not everything in life works out the way we want, but trust that God is with you in every valley of life. Allow Him to help you. You serve the God of second chances. Don’t stay down if you have fallen because your tomorrow is far better than your past. Romans 5:8 (CEV) says, “God showed how much he loved us by having Christ die for us, even though we were sinful”. He went out of His way to take care of us. That’s Grace!
Faith brings second chances. Every sunrise offers a second chance. No matter where you are in life, no matter what you have done, no matter how many times you have done it, God will always give you a second chance. He will give you a third, fourth, fifth and a thousand chances. God will not stop because he will not give up on you. He will open doors of second chances and doors of provision for you. God is able to give you a miracle to confound your enemies.
If you had a D in school, there is a second chance for you not to have a D in life. If you have lost your job, there is a second chance of getting another one. If you are sick in your body, healing belongs to you. You will be healed. If you are separated, if your marriage has ended or your spouse is deceased, if you are struggling in your relationship, don’t give up. You have a second chance to find love again. It is sad to say goodbye to someone you wish to spend your lifetime with but always remember that NOT everyone will make it to your future. Some people are just passing through to teach you lessons in life. That is why you serve the God of second chances. Don’t allow that closed-door in your life become the end of a beautiful life. “Abraham took another wife, whose name was Keturah” – Genesis 25:1 (ESV). Don’t let your past relationships in life ruin your future happiness. The scars are there to remind you of where you’ve been, not where you are going. The scars are there to remind you that God is the God of second chances.
You might have disobeyed God but He is not about to give up on you. You may have lost face with the world but not with God. God didn’t give up on Jonah, He came true for him. He won’t give up on you too. Jonah 3:1 (ESV) says, “Then the word of the Lord came to Jonah the second time…”. God will visit you again, He will give you a new direction, a fresh anointing, a fresh start and you will fulfill your purpose. He is always ready to forget your yesterday and to forgive your past, your past sins and mistakes. You are righteous and holy. You are reborn and remade. You are accepted and worthy.
If you are waiting on God for Him to reward you for the fruit of your labours, it will surely come. He is the God of second chances. It might look like you are not making the desired progress in life, it might look like help is far away and your prayers have all gone unanswered. Be confident that help is on the way for you. God is the God of the unsuccessful. He gave a second chance to a fisherman (Peter) to become a follower. He gave a second chance to a coward (Gideon) to become a crusader. He gave a second chance to a prosecutor (Paul) to become a preacher. He gave a second chance to Samson in Judges 16: 28-30. He gave a messed up man like me a second chance and a reason to smile again. I don’t know how “messy” you are but every second is a chance to turn things around again – you must take it! The one who knows you the best (Jesus Christ) loves you the most. When you have made bad choices, remember that God is the God of second chance.
God is not too quick to judge your failure but He is very patient to give you a second chance. Mary Magdalene failed but God showed up for her. Rehab failed but God showed up for her because He is the God of not just a second chance but many chances.
In 1 Kings 9:2-3 (ESV), “the Lord appeared to Solomon a second time, as he had appeared to him at Gibson. 3 And the Lord said to him, “I have heard your prayer and your plea, which you have made before me. I have consecrated this house that you have built, by putting my name there forever. My eyes and my heart will be there for all time”.
Beloved of The Most High God, no matter how long you’ve traveled in the wrong direction, you can always turn around. If you will pray, God will hear you. The works of your hands will be blessed. He is a God of love and restoration. You are not a failure. Stop complaining about your situation, talk to it instead. Put His Word in your mouth. Thank your past for your lessons. Tell your future that you are ready As you do, God will always give you an opportunity to get it right. No matter how far you’re from God, no matter how filthy you may be, no matter how perverse your heart is, God is not too quick to judge your failure but He is very patient to give you a second chance. Mary Magdalene failed but God showed up for her. Rehab failed but God showed up for her. God told Joshua to be strong and be of good courage. He told him the second time to be strong and be of good courage. The third time He said, have I not commanded you, I say be strong and be of good courage.
God said to Jeremiah, “Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, and before you were born I consecrated you; I appointed you a prophet to the nations.” 6 Then I said, “Ah, Lord God! Behold, I do not know how to speak, for I am only a youth.” 7 But the Lord said to me, “Do not say, ‘I am only a youth’; for to all to whom I send you, you shall go, and no whatever I command you, you shall speak. 8 Do not be afraid of them, for I am with you to deliver you, declares the Lord.” 9 Then the Lord put out his hand and touched my mouth. And the Lord said to me, “Behold, I have put my words in your mouth. 10 See, I have set you this day over nations and over kingdoms, to pluck up and to break down, to destroy and to overthrow, to build and to plant.” 11 And the word of the Lord came to me, saying, “Jeremiah, what do you see?” And I said, “I see an almond branch.” 12 Then the Lord said to me, “You have seen well, for I am watching over my word to perform it.” 13 The word of the Lord came to me a second time, saying, “What do you see?” And I said, “I see a boiling pot, facing away from the north.” – Jeremiah 1:5-13 (ESV).
No matter how messed up you are, your messy life is not a surprise to God. Your situation is not a surprise to God. Nothing that happens to you is a surprise to God. He is able to get you to where you are supposed to be. That loss wasn’t a surprise to God. That failed marriage is not a surprise to God. What you lost made room for the new things God wants to do in your life. The death of Jesus was not a surprise to God. It was the plan of God. Nothing you’re facing is a surprise to God. He had the solution before you had the problem. What is a surprise to you is not a surprise to God. He has your life planned according to His purpose.
Today is a new day, endure with hope, rejoice and be glad in it, begin to see the way God sees. What can you see in that situation? What can you see in the midst of that blessed mess? Are you seeing the end of the road or an opportunity to act your faith? When you see the way God sees, speak as God speaks, God will bring to manifestation things not seen because the one who is making everything new again doesn’t see you the way you see yourself. At the right time and season, when the morning of your life dawns on you, God will announce you in the midst of your circumstances. Joseph was announced to his brothers not as a slave but as a Prime Minister. Acts 7:12-13 (ESV) says, “12 But when Jacob heard that there was grain in Egypt, he sent out our fathers on their first visit. 13 And on the second visit Joseph made himself known to his brothers, and Joseph’s family became known to Pharaoh”.
Beloved, faith brings second chances. Job 33:29 (CEV) says, “God gives each of us chance after chance”.
Take the chance, stay the course, endure with hope and be blessed in the Lord’s Grace.
