Stop Struggling. Rest!

Dearly Beloved,

I have struggled to be alive from the day I arrived here on earth. I have struggled in my finances and in my businesses. I have had struggles in my relationships. I know what it means to be loved and to be hated. I know what it means to be suicidal. I know what it means to be depressed. I know what it means to be on the street at age 7. I know what it means to be in and out of school. I have struggled with low self-esteem. I have struggled in every areas of my life. But all that struggle came to an end when I allowed God to help me. I stopped struggling when I said to myself, “enough is enough”. I stopped struggling when I realised that before I had all these challenges, God already had the solution. God has already been there and paved the way for me.

Hebrews 4:9 (MSG) says, “The promise of “arrival” and “rest” is still there for God’s people. 10 God himself is at rest. And at the end of the journey we’ll surely rest with God”.

I know it’s difficult for me to ask you to stop struggling when I haven’t walked in your shoes but I will tell you anyway because you can’t stop me from sharing the love of God and how I express it. Should I be talking this way? Isn’t that rude? No! I am not trying to be rude. I am only trying to let you know that we don’t have control over people. You will be struggling without knowing it if you are trying to change me. That applies to you too. Stop struggling to make things happen. Stop struggling to justify your failure and setbacks. Stop struggling with how to ask her out. Stop struggling to impress your Pastor. Stop struggling to impress your boss. Stop struggling to impress your spouse. Stop struggling to impress anyone and everyone in your sphere of contact. Stop struggling to make ends meet. The Lord is your shepherd. Make a demand on your daily bread – Matthew 6:11 (KJV). The reason why God lifted your burden is so that you will stop struggling under the weight of things He didn’t plan for you. So trust Him today with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding – Proverbs 3:5.

If you are struggling in your relationship or marriage, that struggle is unnecessary. You can’t stop people from loving you but no one can stop you from loving yourself. Stop breaking your own heart for someone who doesn’t deserve you. Don’t blame them if they leave because you haven’t walked in their shoes. You can’t stop them from going away. You can’t stop yourself from going away either. You can’t stop people from distancing themselves from you. It’s only natural. It doesn’t matter how long people have lived in your heart, people change. Give yourself an opportunity to be happy with someone who does. Learn to accept that you can’t stop people from walking out of your life. You can’t stop people from misunderstanding you when they have an agenda. You can’t stop people from jumping to conclusions because you haven’t walked in their shoes. Learn to accept that you can’t stop people from changing. You can only hope to understand why. So choose to remain good in spite of your oppositions.

Many times people will call you names. They did that to Jesus. If you dare to declare your rights in Christ people will say that you are braggadocio. If you dare to be different at work or in all that you do, you will be criticized. Stop struggling with all that. Rest knowing that you can’t stop people from calling you names. Keep answering the name God calls you. Rest knowing that you can’t stop people from closing you out even if you’ve done nothing. Continue to be there for them. Rest knowing that you can’t stop people from being offended, it’s up to you to find a way to work around it. Rest knowing that you can’t stop people from talking about you, but you can give them something to talk about.Rest knowing that you can’t stop people from judging you. Just go with the flow. Let them believe whatever it is they think you are. Rest knowing that you can’t stop people from saying hurtful things to you or about you. That is life, you can’t stop people from hurting you but you have a choice, let whatever they say destroy you or let it propel you. You can decide who can hurt you. Use that little power you have. It’s your choice. Refuse to have sleepless nights over the actions of others. You can’t stop people from saying things; you can’t prevent the negative, but you don’t have to allow it into your spirit. You can’t stop people from saying negative word, but you can stop the negative word from having contamination to your mind. So rest and let go of the disappointments and setbacks in your life. Hang on to the promises of God for your future.

Beloved of God, whenever you are making progress in life a lot of dirt will be thrown at you. People will make foolish decisions and blame you for it especially from those closest to you. You can’t stop people from lying on you, the only thing you can do is make sure they’re lying. Rest knowing that you can’t stop them from making bad decisions. You can’t stop people from doing what they want. You can only wish them the best if they want to go ahead. You can’t stop people from doing bad things to you but you could stop it from getting to you.You have that power that no one else. You can’t stop damaged people from damaging themselves because of their poor choices. They enjoy the confusion because they are attracted to the toxicity. You can’t stop people from committing crime. It’s been there since Cain and Abel. So rest and stop trying. Rest and stop struggling. Don’t give up on the things God has placed in your heart. Keep pushing and praying knowing that He will direct your steps. He specializes in making all things new. He is a rewarder and a restorer. Rest!

If you live in Iraq, Syria, Northern Nigeria or any country ravaged by war, conflicts, inner cities ravaged by crime, drugs or violence, you can’t stop the government there from killing her own people. You can’t stop insane people from doing insane things by killing innocent children. You can’t stop insane people from doing insane things by passing insane laws. You can’t stop evil people from doing evil things. You can’t stop people from dying. You can help yourself by not allowing the things you see on TV to become drama in your spirit. The battle is not yours. The battle is the Lord’s. Start there. Pray for everyone especially your leaders. Choose to remain good in spite of the chaos. Choose to remain good in spite of your oppositions.

God wants you to cease from all your struggling and accept the offer He extends to turn your situation around. Choose to remain good in spite of your oppositions. Cease from your struggles. Nothing is too small for God to care or too big for God to tackle. Rest knowing that help is on the way. Struggles and lack will not be your destiny. The rain of abundance is coming. Where God guides, He provides.

In the meantime, please share your comments, observationions and insight. Rest and be blessed in the Lord’s Grace.
