In John 8:12, Jesus said, “I am the light of the world. He who follows Me shall not walk in darkness, but have the light of life.”
As a Christian, it’s possible for you to follow Him and walk in darkness without you knowing it. And when you walk in darkness, circumstances will come against you. When you walk in darkness, the devil will try to mess up your life. Until you recognise that life is spiritual (Eph 6:12), you’ll never understand the circumstances that you go through. If you pray day and night but harbour so much bitterness towards anyone, you are in darkness and darkness cannot abide in the light of “The Word”. If you go to Church everyday of your life but you gossip about everyone and everything, you are in darkness and darkness cannot abide in the light of “The Word”. If you have ceased to know the virtue of repentance, you are in darkness and darkness cannot abide in the light of “The Word”. If you harbour resentment in your office or in your house, you in darkness and darkness cannot abide in the light of “The Word”.
Jesus has said in Matthew 5:14 (NIV) that “You are the light of the world”. That is your description, that is your address, that is who you are. You must answer your name. When you let your light shine, everyone will follow you but when you are in darkness even your own shadow will not follow you. Don’t let others shortcomings bring you down. Stand strong when they say you are weak, prove them wrong, for darkness cannot abide in the light of “The Word”.
Brothers and sisters, it is a new day, let your confidence be in the Word, not in your feelings or circumstances. I know darkness is a dangerous place to be. I know darkness is a place where you have terror and pestilence walking there. I know those who walk in darkness cannot see BUT I also know that God wants you to know and have round the clock protection. He said in Psalm 91:6, “You shall not be afraid of the terror by night, nor of the arrow that flies by day, nor of the pestilence that walks in darkness, nor of the destruction that lays waste at noonday.”
You may be facing some serious circumstances today. It may be your health, your family, your finances. Whatever it is, you don’t have to stay in darkness anymore because God is not the one keeping you there. Romans 5:17 (NIV) says, “For if, by the trespass of the one man, death reigned through that one man, how much more will those who receive God’s abundant provision of grace and of the gift of righteousness reign in life through the one man, Jesus Christ”.
God’s Word is His will for your life. His Word is His bond. His Word is His power (Romans 1:16). You have received abundance of grace and gift of righteousness already, so no matter what comes your way, make up your mind you’re going to live this day happy. Be thankful at all times. Circumstances should not stop your praise. Circumstances should not cause you to become bitter towards others. Circumstances should not cause you to talk down on others, gossip about people and cause confusion everywhere you go. I know the circumstances of life may not always correspond with what the Word of God says, or the visions God has given you but let your praise to God give you a turnaround. The devil may throw obstacles and evil circumstances at you, but God will turn those evil schemes around for your greater blessing. Give thanks in spite of the negative circumstances. Don’t despair – your present circumstances will change. You will recover; you will rebuild; you will walk out of darkness and walk in the light of His Word again. Whatever circumstances you are facing today, you can be full of joy. You can be strong in the Lord.
It’s my prayer that your wilderness will become a fruitful field. May justice, peace, and the comfort of the Holy Spirit dwell with you. May you not stumble or cause others to stumble. In Jesus Name, Amen!
