Many people today are under so much stress because of too many concerns. There are those who are concerned about their finances, jobs, health, family, looks, reputation, marriages, pregnancy, country, church and the souls of men. The list is endless and chances are that you are definitely not excempted from one of these issues or concerns.
Many at times we live in the future instead of the present. We are concerned more with tomorrow and yesterday instead of today. For as long as your focus is on yesterday and tomorrow much of your stress and many of your problems will not disappear.
For a few minutes, do a self-assessment, ask yourself: what are those things that are more of concern to me? What are those things that are giving me sleepless nights? What are my greatest fears? Why are my not happy with my job? Why are my in debt? Why are my not happy in my marraige or relationship? Why are my out of job? Why are my so lonely? Why are my depressed? What is that burden that you wish to see a miracle turn it around for you? Ask yourself, why is my life the way it is especially if it’s?
Don’t tell me it’s difficult to determine or know the reason or cause of your stress, pain, anger, disappointment, frustration, bitterness, depression, insecurity, fears, divorce, separation, etc. You do if you are sincere to yourself. Don’t get me wrong, until people have been through what you have been through they have no authority to judge you! But Proverbs 16:9 (NIV) says, “In his heart a man plans his course”. You didn’t arrive where you are right now by accident. You are in your present situation because of the choices you have made overtime – good or bad. Proverbs 27:19 (NIV) says, “As water reflects a face, so a man’s heart reflects the man”. Your current situation is actually a reflection of what’s going on in your heart. Proverbs 23:7 (KJV) says, “for as he thinketh in his heart, so is he”.
What are the dominating thoughts in your mind? Are you living your tomorrows before they get here? If you do then you can miss today completely. The Bible tells us in Psalms 118:24 (KJV), “This is the day which the LORD hath made; we will rejoice and be glad in it”. You can’t live yesterday today and you can’t live today tomorrow. You can only live today, today. Worry will not change your situation. Complaining about your situation will not change it. Blaming yourself and everyone for your circumstances will not change anything. Proverbs 12:25 (NIV) says, “An anxious heart weighs a man down, but a kind word cheers him up”. A kind word will only cheer you up it won’t take the problem away. But it’s a starting point. Proverbs 15:13 (KJV) says, “A merry heart maketh a cheerful countenance” and Proverbs 15:15 (KJV) says, “he that is of a merry heart hath a continual feast”.
For you to see a desired change in your situation, there must be a starting point – responsibility. For that miracle to take place, there must be a starting point – your faith. Everything in nature returns to it’s source, their are no exceptions. Tomorrow is not guaranteed. You must do something awesome today. You must start from somewhere today. You must live in the here and now. Happiness is a choice, not a result. Nothing will make you happy until you choose to be happy.
If your problem is overeating, then decide not to overeat today, not yesterday. Yesterday’s gone. Not tomorrow, tomorrow is not here yet. Just don’t overeat today. If you have a temper and argue with your family, then decide not to argue today – just today. One day is much easier to deal with. If you are in a blessed mess, then decide that enough is enough for today. If your marriage has hit a rock, then take the first step and fix yourself. No one is going to fix you. Life will never be perfect and it doesn’t matter if you have failed (a lot), the past is already written and tomorrow is not guaranteed. So clear yourself of worry and focus on what is important.
Beloved of God, pause and remember: If you are reading this. You are blessed to be alive. Today is just a gift, it is not refundable and tomorrow is not guaranteed. So be happy. Live your dreams and passion. Stop worrying about the economy. You can’t control it neither can you alone fix it. Stop spending your energy and time on things and people that don’t bring you joy. Don’t die in a marriage or relationship that is not taking you anywhere. If you are divorced or separated and a reconciliation seems far off, don’t try to fast and pray for what God has delivered you from.
We all make mistakes in relationship or marraiges but silent hell is the worst place to be. Ask for forgiveness and move on, knowing that God still wants to you do good things and have a good life. Move on with your life knowing that all things will eventually work together for your good. Move on, knowing that things can only get better. Move on, knowing that you have tried your best for them. Move on, knowing that you do deserve it. Move on, knowing that they were never good for you. Move on, knowing that there was never an us. Move on, knowing that you should. Put the past behind you and move on, knowing that you have done the best that you can with all that you had to give. Move on, knowing that from the start they were not willing to hold on.
No matter how much you do for some people, it’s never going to be enough, so you just have to move on, knowing that your blessings come from above, not below. Forgive yourself because you did the best you could at the time, and move on, knowing that you have the knowledge and tools to think differently next time. Move on, knowing that things are not working, and there is clearly evidence of that EVERYWHERE. Accept the negative and move on knowing that the many positives are what is to be enjoyed. Move on, knowing that you’re not carrying grudges from the past because that affects your future relationship with others. Accept your failures and move on, knowing that failure is a natural consequence of trying. Move on, knowing that you did everything you could. Move on, knowing that life still goes on.
Do what makes you happy, today. Be with those that made you smile and love life. If you are in someone’s life, be there for them for good or step aside. Step aside and move on knowing that God is going to replace what you settled for with what truly belongs to you. Pick up your pieces and move on knowing that you’re still an amazing person who gave your marriage or relationship the best while it lasted. Don’t regret your past. Learn from it and move on, knowing that your experiences helped you to choose growth.
Thank someone you love for the negative impact they have had over your life! Forgive them and move on …knowing that our God is a forgiving God too. Learn the lesson, move on knowing that there are certainly other fish in the sea, and one of them is yours. When big things in your life change you have to adapt and move on knowing that you’ll be a better person for it.
Tomorrow is not guaranteed for anyone. Go and find your happiness. Take a moment today to look at yourself and appreciate the fact that you are here and you are unique. Be anxious for nothing. Philippians 4:6 (AMP) says, “Do not fret or have any anxiety about anything, but in every circumstance and in everything, by prayer and petition (definite requests), with thanksgiving, continue to make your wants known to God”.
You are not alone in your situation. Everyone is fighting a battle you have no idea about. Be thankful for this life and the memories you make because tomorrow is not guaranteed. It doesn’t matter what is happening in your life, the sun will rise tomorrow. The past is a place of reference, not a place of residence. God has a purpose for everything that you have been through and He will show up for you if you will make your requests known to him.
Remember, you don’t know when it’s the last time you’ll see a person. Tomorrow is not guaranteed, life changes in a second. Tell the people you love that you love them while you have a chance. Don’t take your life and the people that you love in your life for granted. Never postpone. Always show and express love. Life is so fragile. Love deeply and completely with all your heart.
I know it’s so hard to live in the moment even though tomorrow is not guaranteed but there’s nothing quite as sacred as today, right now, the present. Realize deeply that the present moment is all you have. You’ll never get to go back to yesterday and tomorrow is not guaranteed. There will never be a moment in your life when it is not now. An hour ago, it was now. Tomorrow, it will still be now. Change the routine. Do something out of the ordinary. You won’t regret it. Learn to master happiness in the now, that is all you will ever need to do. Ask God to give you wisdom and understanding and to guide your steps through that day. God created each day for you and me. He wants today to be a good day. He wants us to be healthy, emotionally sound, prosperous and seeking Him and His will today.
In the meantime, please share your comments, observations and insight. Rest and be blessed in the Lord’s Grace as you move on with your life.
