Be a BLESSING and not a BURDEN

Dear Someone,

As an adult, the worst feeling in life is the feeling of being a burden to your family. Such feelings don’t  start overnight but gradually. For some, such feelings are due to poor health and for others poor choices.

It helps to pause and ask, “who am I to my family – a burden or a blessing?”. When you refuse to recognize your mistakes and own up to it, you will become a failure in life and possibly a burden to your family. If you are an underage smoker, you will likely have cancer because of your addiction and thereby becoming a burden to your family. If you are a new mum and you are depressed, you will become a burden to your family or friends if you do not seek for help. If you fail to realize that Cinderella was a fairy tale, your marriage can easily become a silent hell for you and a burden to your family.

Life is not meant to be that way. You are not supposed to be a burden to your family and you shouldn’t. It doesn’t matter the circumstances of your birth, God has an expected end for you and so does your family.

Ruth 4:13-15 (CEV) says, “Boaz married Ruth, and the LORD blessed her with a son. 14 After his birth, the women said to Naomi: Praise the LORD! Today he has given you a grandson to take care of you. We pray that the boy will grow up to be famous everywhere in Israel. 15 He will make you happy and take care of you in your old age, because he is the son of your daughter-in-law. And she loves you more than seven sons of your own would love you”.

Stop blaming your circumstances. Stop wishing things were different. Stop wishing that someone else is your father. Stop wishing you are an American or the child of a billionaire. You are never disadvantaged in life. You were born a son and daughter of consolation. You are in this world for a purpose. Stop living a defeated life. Arise from that depression that your circumstances have kept you and let your light so shine for all to see. You were born to be a blessing and not a burden. Make up your mind to be a blessing and not a burden to the man or woman you are with. Be a blessing and not a burden in every relationship in your life and every arena of your life. You were redeemed and commissioned  to be a blessing and not a burden to this world.

Today, I pray that you will never be a burden to your family but a source of hope, happiness and inspiration. May your family and your household be restored to favour through you. In Jesus Name, Amen!

Be blessed,
Ali Papa.
