Many people are sick, oppressed, and depressed today because of unforgiveness. Don’t be one of them. Don’t allow any unforgiving spirit to rule your life. It doesn’t matter what anyone has done to you, leave the offence and the offender with God — He’s the only one who understands what they did and why they did it.
No matter where you’ve been, no matter what they have done, no matter how deep they have wronged you, choose to forgive today. Ephesians 4:32 (MSG) says, “Be gentle with one another, sensitive. Forgive one another as quickly and thoroughly as God in Christ forgave you”.
Forgive not because of who you are, but because of who He is and how He forgave you.
Forgive not because they deserve forgiveness but because you deserve peace. Forgive not because it will change the past but because it will enlarge your future. Forgive not because they are wrong but because staying angry robs you of your happiness. Forgive not because you are weak, but because you know that people will always make mistakes. Forgive not because they have apologized or because they deserve it. Forgive for yourself and know that’s how you begin to let them go. Forgive not because you are a saint, but because you don’t want to get tired of hating. Forgive not because of who you are, but because of who He is and how He forgave you.
When you withhold forgiveness or love from anyone, it diminishes your awareness of the abundance of good in your life. There is no love without forgiveness, and there is no forgiveness without love. That’s why the hardest offences to forgive are committed by the people who are closest to us. Why? Because we have to live with them every day! This can cause you to ‘act out’, and hurt the people you love and need most. Learn to leave the offence and the offender with God; He’s the only one who understands what they did and why they did it.
Our prayers are heard when we walk in forgiveness. Matthew 6:14 (MSG) says “In prayer there is a connection between what God does and what you do. You can’t get forgiveness from God, for instance, without also forgiving others”.
May God give you a new start from today. May you find the grace to forgive those that have wronged you. May God restore you to favour in the sight of men. May He answer your prayers without delay. May this season be a happy one that will fill your mouth with songs of praise. May today be all that you need it to be in Jesus Name.
