Get Yourself Together

I just wanted to remind you, Dear Someone, that one day, you will smile again like you’ve never been hurt. That one day, you will know what they did for you and to you and thank God they happened. Quit complaining and count your blessings one by one, especially the things you take for granted — one day, you will understand that all the NO’s had to happen in order to lead to the YES.

When Naomi was left without her late brothers, her young men, her husband and was all alone, Ruth 1:6 (MSG) says, “One day she got herself together…”, not because she was happy, not because she was still too young to get another man, but because she knew that life goes on irrespective of any setbacks in life.

No matter what it is that you are experiencing right now, get yourself together because one day you will finally realize that happiness comes from within, not from others. One day you will see why those ‘could have been’ did not happen. One day you will be what you’ve always wanted to be because you didn’t give up on God and yourself. One day you will become the person a younger version of yourself once dreamt of becoming. Don’t rush anything and never give up too soon — gather yourself together knowing that one day, when the time is right, you will be at a place you’ve always wanted to. You will wake up and you’ll be in a place where everything feels right.

It doesn’t matter who is laughing at your hustle, your little efforts, your drawings and everything that they have labeled you with right now, gather yourself together and know that you will find what you’re looking for, people will see you succeed, and one day, you will laugh last. It doesn’t matter who is laughing at you right now, get yourself together and rest knowing that everything will be okay in the end. Rest knowing that all things are working together for your good. Rest knowing that God is not done with you. Rest knowing that if things are not okay right now, it is a sign that it is not the end for you. Rest knowing that your comeback will one day confuse those who said you would never make it!

Your marriage or relationship may not have been all that you wanted it to be but no matter the situation you are in today, and no matter how messy things are, get yourself together and never let your emotions overpower your God-given intelligence — one day you will find true love, you will find rest and you will be someone’s true love. In the meantime, appreciate that one person that has refused to give up on you — one day you will realize that he or she was the one all along.

If you’re reading this and asking yourself what you have done wrong to be treated so badly, get yourself together and know that one day, you will meet someone who’ll go an extra mile just to put a smile on your face. Someone who is not afraid to call you his or her own will show up in your life. Someone whose deeds matches his or her words will be by your side. And for those that you have wronged, rest knowing that one day they may be able to forgive you.

Things happen not to us but for us but whatever comes your way and whatever it is that’s causing you to think that change will never come, I encourage you to get yourself together and treat each day as your last and one day you will be right. One day you will know, he or she wasn’t like them. One day you will realize that someone who loves you would never put themselves in a position to lose you. It may feel like you’re never going to meet someone who will love you and respect you wholeheartedly, but one day you will be the love of someone’s life. You will find genuine happiness and when you do, be willing to do everything to keep it. One day, everything’s going to make sense.

If you’re still questioning why God allowed that “blessed mess”, thank Him instead and stay the course. Get yourself together and stay strong even when it feels like everything is falling apart — one day you will be blessed with everything you have ever asked, prayed and trusted God for in faith. One day you will look back on this season of your life and know that you’re truly blessed, not because things were perfect but because the Lord stood by your side and gave you strength (2 Timothy 4:17a NIV).

You may feel down, sad, or worried about situations in your life right now. You may not even understand what is happening to you or you may think that life is unfair but one day you will understand if you will get yourself together. You will understand if you will fight all your battles with a smile. You’ll understand if you will allow God to help you.

I have come to realise that sometimes the people who do not talk to you are the ones that really want to. So if you are reading this and think I can be of help in any way, please let me know. Until then, may you be at peace with where you’ve been, what you’ve been through and with where you’re headed. May you be able to tell your story one day without shedding tears. May you find joyful ways to begin the next phase of your life. May you be filled with peace that surpasses all understanding. May you heal quickly and find strength from everything around you. May you be wrapped in the warmth of loved ones and may GOD favour you beyond your current circumstances.

Be encouraged,
Ali Papa.
