I just wanted to remind you, Dear Someone, not to look back – you’re not going that way. Your direction is much more important than your speed. Stop looking back with the purpose of settling for a love that hurts more than it heals. Stop trying to make yourself relevant in stories you’ve already exited. Stop looking back so you can see what’s in front of you. Stop feeling sorry for yourself just because your ex seems to be doing just fine while you’re having a hard time. Stop feeling like God vanished and left you stranded. Stop feeling sorry for yourself just because you’re hurting in silence and wishing someone will love you enough to notice that you’re not yourself. Heal at your own pace, instead of rushing into connections by individuals who are not willing to help you move on.
You might have made choices that delayed things, and got you off your course but always remind yourself that you are not stuck or defeated. Always remind yourself that your struggle is part of your story. Always remind yourself that it is okay not to be perfect. Always remind yourself that you are powerful enough to overcome any circumstances and achieve whatsoever you want. Always remind yourself that the only true failure is giving up on yourself. Always remind yourself that you are beautiful and loved worthy. Always remind yourself that no two relationships are ever the same. Always remind yourself that there is no shame in divorce neither is their shame in separation or break up.
Life may have thrown things your way to slow you down or speed you up but always remind yourself that the best things may be gone but there are the good ones that were left. Always remind yourself that even though the journey might not be easy right now, difficult roads often lead to beautiful destinations. Always remind yourself that it’s totally fine if your journey is not the same as everyone else’s. Always remind yourself that the journey to greatness has never been easy and mistakes are part of the journey. Always remind yourself that the challenges of life are there to move you into your purpose and that you will never be tempted beyond your ability. Always remind yourself that in this journey of life, you are walking it all alone. But ultimately, always remind yourself that God has a plan for you, He has already provided you with a way and He’s the only one who will never leave your side.
When all doors get shut behind you, it’s a sign that you need to stop looking back and start moving forward. It’s a sign that you need to reevaluate your life and play by a different set of rules. If something keeps festering in your mind, it is a sign that you need to act upon it and change the situation. If your relationship or marriage has become toxic and your life constantly at risk, it is a sign of a separation or divorce long overdue. If there’s anyone in your life that remembers you only when they need your assistance, then it is a sign that the person doesn’t value you but just using you. If you’re constantly questioning your faith and God’s love for you, then it is a sign that you need to let go of what’s behind and press forward in faith even if you don’t have it all together yet. (see Philippians 3:12-16 MSG).
While it might be news to you, I want you to realise that what’s done is done, and what happened in the past is in the past and not in your future. If however, you think you need to take a few steps back to clear your mind, do so but get up and get moving. If you need to take a few steps back to heal, do so but get up and get moving. If you need to take a few steps back and look at everything around you in a new perspective and assure yourself, do so but get up and get moving. If you need to take a few steps back to get a running start, do so but get up and get moving. If you need to take a few steps back to see how you’re playing yourself, do so but get up get moving for you’ll never be able to start a new chapter of the life God has destined for you unless you stop looking back at the last one and neither will you ever be able to fit for God’s work if you keep looking back at your mistakes, and your old habits or way of life (see Luke 9:62).
Make a plan and move forward you that stumbled on this letter for you’ve got a beautiful and successful life to create and that life starts now. If however, you need to take a few steps back because you think you’re getting too attached to the wrong person, do so, but get up and get moving. If you need to take a few steps back and find your happy place, do so, but get up and get moving. If you need to take a few steps back and admit that your actions have caused harm to someone you care about, do so, but get up and get moving. If you need to take a few steps back to give yourself room to build momentum, do so, but get up and get moving. Whatever it is that you need to do when you take a few steps backwards, do so, but don’t forget to move forward and don’t forget to take care of yourself first – for everything else stems from there.
Your journey might have been very rough and hard but stop blaming people for your problems and how things turned out for you. Stop blaming your parents for how you turned out – you’re grown now. Stop blaming your ex on why you can’t be happy and pick up the pieces – everything gets better from there. Stop blaming others for your mistakes – your mistakes are your own. Stop looking back negativity – you were made to look forward in faith, hope and love. Stop blaming God for your circumstances, your pain, your loss and why you can’t find and feel unconditional love from anyone – He is not responsible for how you handle situations. Stop looking back this very moment and trust that God can restore your strength, leads you down the right paths in this journey that you are in all for the sake of His reputation and Name (see Psalms 23:3 NET).
Until tomorrow, always remember that nothing you do now can change your past – whenever it calls, don’t pick up, it has nothing new to say. Nothing you do now can change your mistakes – don’t be defined by them and forget anyone that makes you feel like you are. Nothing you do now can bring back those that left you but everything you do now can determine and change your future. Let your inspiration be drawn from those who left you stranded when you needed them while also thanking God for those that left you stranded on the highway of life and in a pool of misery. Some people are meant to stay in your past and their absence doesn’t mean love will not find its way to you again, one way or the other. Today, more than ever before, take your time and enjoy each stop in your journey of life – every delay happens for a reason and every hardship is a chance for you to grow. It doesn’t matter how old you are or where you are in life, your journey is different – it is yours, and your blessings are ahead of you and not behind (see Haggai 2:9 KJV). Don’t look at others and worry. Don’t look at others and go wrong with your own path. Don’t look at others and their course in life. The day you stop looking back is the day you will start moving on. So again I say, don’t look back – you’re not going that way.
