God Doesn’t Give You The People You Want

Dear Someone,

This letter is for you, you that is feeling emotionally drained, broken, tired and on the brink of tears because of how badly your “friends” or family have wronged you.

This letter is for you, you that is becoming pretty toxic, exhibiting self sabotaging behaviours and hurt at every little thing thrown at you.

I know you wish things are different right now but unfortunately you are going through all these and all by yourself. Sometimes they say life is not fair not because God wants it so, not because you have done anything wrong, and not because you deserve it, but because of the wrong decisions and actions of those around you and I.

While many will urge you to get used to it or deal with it without crying, it’s important you realise that even though life might not be fair sometimes, you don’t have to be unfair to yourself.

I understand that all you ever wanted was to create something that will last forever. In reality, that’s not always the case because in life, the people that will hurt you the most are often not strangers or enemies but friends and people that are close and very dear to you.

That’s why the pain, disappointment and anger that you’re carrying in your soul right now is so much. It is a negative energy that is capable of keeping you from moving forward in life. It is a negative energy that can cause you to slip into depression, become toxic to yourself and to others unknowingly.

One thing I can assure you though is that God knows how you are feeling right now. He knows the anger that you carry in your heart. He knows how you have been unfairly treated and He is not surprised by your disappointment and frustration over it.

While it might be a surprise to you, it’s not a surprise to God, your Father. So don’t allow what anyone has done to you become drama in your Spirit. Don’t allow their actions to drain you emotionally. Let keeping your cool become your second nature.

If those that have wronged you knew you very well, they wouldn’t have treated you this way. So don’t question what others have done. Don’t question what they have said and what it looked like. God’s mercy will reach out to you and speak for you today.

When your family and “friends” have wronged you, or gone back on their word on you, it’s okay to cry and to overreact the way you have done. That’s because you were hurt but don’t allow it to breed a seed of toxicity in you. As you can see, it’s affecting you already and that’s why you are not happy.

Never let your happiness depend on anyone because of how they make you feel. While you do not have control over their actions, you do have control over how you react to what is it that they have done wrong to you. Remember that everything happens for a reason. Their actions towards you might not make sense now but at the right time, it will.

Let go of the anger that you carry towards the people that have hurt you knowing that the more anger you carry from the past, the less capable you are of loving in the present. You shouldn’t allow anyone have power over your happiness and over how you feel at any point in time. Refuse to be moved by what they say and what they throw at you. Live above their negativity and above their drama. Sometimes you have to give up on people – not because of them but because of you.

Irrespective of whatever anyone might have done to you today or before now, your inner peace is very precious and you should therefore forgive them and count it all joy. When you choose to forgive those who have hurt you, you are not only taking away their power, you set yourself free, you empower yourself and regain your strength and inner peace.

Forgiving them will not change what they have done and how they made you feel, but it will help you to enlarge your future by realising that God doesn’t give you the people you want, He gives you the people you need. Today, more than ever before, let your patience prep you for God’s best instead of unnecessary drama from people that don’t deserve you.

Lastly, don’t forget to also forgive yourself not because you have done anything wrong but because you are bigger than all that has been thrown at you.

Life is too short for you to start thinking like everyone else. Life is too short for you to allow their drama to become toxic inside you.

Life is too short for you to start making excuses for how they have treated you. Keep things simple, hold on to what’s good and stay the course.

Happiness is found when you start seeing the positive side of every situation. Happiness is found when you start loving yourself rather waiting for others to accept you by their own definition of you. Happiness is found when you start ignoring people that think they know more about you than you do.

Until I hear from you again, don’t forget to smile and laugh. Life is really better that way. May everything that gives you hope and peace of mind for a better tomorrow not be taken away from you.

May you find comfort, encouragement, guidance, hope, inspiration, love, and peace in the midst of that situation. May you also find answers to your question(s) through the Scriptures that address every situation you face, and help with your problems.
